So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. – 2 Corinthians 4:18
We long to see what lies beyond our reach. With microscopes and particle accelerators, we search for the smallest building blocks of reality. With telescopes, we peer into the farthest corners of the universe. Yet even as we look deeper into the microscopic and farther into the cosmos, our vision eventually fades into limits of time and distance.
Is Seeing Really Believing?
We often say “seeing is believing,” yet in our digital age we can alter and reshape almost any image. We know what we see can be changed, but we still chase after images, storing them, sharing them, and gazing at what captures our attention. Our eyes crave beauty, wonder, and meaning, even as we know appearances can deceive.
The Origin of All Things
Everything we behold, from quarks to galaxies, from mountains to people, began as something unseen. All creation first existed in the imagination of God. For Him there is no difference between seen and unseen, because whatever He imagines, He can bring into being. Every detail of creation is the work of His infinite wisdom and power.
A God Who Knows and Loves Us
The greatest wonder of all is not only that God created this vast and intricate universe, but that He chooses to love us within it. We are small in comparison to the cosmos, yet God is intimately concerned with each of our lives. His love reaches beyond the galaxies and speaks directly to the human heart.
Looking Beyond the Visible
Though God Himself is unseen, His presence is made clear through the beauty of His creation and the depth of His love. Every sunrise, every star, every moment of kindness reflects His hand. To truly see is not only to use our eyes, but to recognize His work all around us. Let us learn to look beyond the visible and see the One who created it all.
