Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! – 2 Corinthians 5:17
What does it mean to be “in Christ”?
It means we are united with Him, connected to Him, and surrounded by His presence. It means that through His death and resurrection, we have been brought into a restored relationship with God. Our sins are forgiven, and our failures are no longer counted against us. When God looks at us, He sees us clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
Reconciled, Forgiven, and Protected
To be reconciled means we have been brought back into fellowship with God. Jesus has paid the price for our sins, and we stand forgiven. But being “in Christ” is more than forgiveness—it is also strength, guidance, and protection. In every moment and every circumstance, He is with us. Through the Holy Spirit, we are led into the will and purposes of God.
This new life changes how we see the world. We no longer view people as we once did, but through the eyes of our loving Father. We no longer live in fear of life’s challenges, but face them in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are no longer bound by guilt or the impulses of sin, but walk in the freedom that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
God’s Power to Redeem the Past
Many of us have thought, “If only I could go back and change the past.” But God offers something even greater. He takes even our worst moments, our mistakes, and our sins, and works them into His plan to shape who we are today. While we cannot undo the past, God can redeem it.
Through His love and forgiveness, He makes us brand new. Our old ways of thinking, our habits, our guilt, our pride, and our failures are gone. In Christ, we are completely re-created. We are not defined by what we were, but by who we are in Him.
A New Life in Christ
What would you give to go back and change your past? Everything? Then give everything to God. While He will not erase the past, He will transform how it affects you. In Christ, the old is gone and the new has come. You are forgiven, restored, and renewed. You are in Him, and He has made all things new.
