Your beauty should not come from outward adornment such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. – 1 Peter 3:3-4
What makes someone truly beautiful? Is it the clothes they wear, the styles they follow, or the way they look? The truth is that real beauty is not about outward appearance but about who we are in the eyes of God.
What the World Calls Beautiful
Every day we are surrounded by images and messages about beauty. Fashion trends, body types, and attractive accessories are often lifted up as the standard. There is nothing wrong with enjoying good design, wearing clothes we like, or appreciating creativity. These can be gifts from God. But it is important to pause and ask ourselves: Are we trying to cover something up? Are we seeking to impress others? Are we being modest in how we present ourselves?
The Beauty God Values
Scripture tells us that God values a gentle and quiet spirit. He says it is precious to Him. Unlike the world’s temporary definitions of beauty, this is a lasting beauty that comes from within. We cannot impress God with how we look on the outside, nor do we need to. He already knows us completely and loves us deeply. True beauty is found in letting His love shape our character.
Clothed in His Love
When we choose to wear gentleness, humility, and the peace of Christ, we reflect a beauty that never fades. God invites us to be covered in His love, confident that we are already accepted and cherished. This is the kind of beauty that shines through us and blesses everyone we encounter.
