When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. – Psalm 91:15
When do we call out to God?
Is it only “when we need Him”? We get into trouble, so then we turn to Him and ask for help. But when things are going well, we tend to think we don’t need much help.
That was our problem before we came to Jesus. We were full of pride and didn’t think we needed anyone else. But at some point our eyes were opened to our own helplessness, and also to the life we were missing out on. We came to Jesus and said “I need help” and He said, “I have already provided your salvation through my death and resurrection!”
God is always listening, and we don’t need to make a lot of noise or try to get His attention, because He is right there with us. He is waiting to help us in times of trouble, or to be with us when things are going well—all because He loves us.
We can have an ongoing relationship and conversation with the maker of all things and the one who loves us so much, and this is also what God desires. He will always answer!
