In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. – Genesis 1:1
Have you ever stopped to wonder why God made everything? The vastness of the universe, the stars and galaxies beyond counting, all point to His power and imagination. Yet in the midst of all that greatness, His story is about us. Creation itself is not just a display of His glory, but also a reminder of His personal love and care for each one of us.
The Greatness of God’s Creation
The size of the earth, the immensity of the solar system, and the vast reaches of the universe are only small glimpses of God’s creative power. He spoke it all into existence, and yet His focus remains on His relationship with us. Whatever wonders He is accomplishing across the cosmos, His eyes are still turned toward His children here on earth.
The Mystery of His Power and Tenderness
We cannot fully grasp the infinity of space or the eternity of time, and even less can we comprehend God’s endless imagination and eternal sovereignty. But while His power is beyond understanding, His love is deeply personal. The One who formed the universe also stooped down to breathe life into us, and He continues to bend near, sustaining and holding us close.
Held by His Love
The Creator of all things treasures us above everything else He has made. Just as His greatness is beyond comprehension, so is His love. When we cannot grasp Him, He graciously grasps us. That is the heart of His story: the infinite God drawing near to hold us in His everlasting love.
