“Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise.” — Ephesians 5:15
Have you ever caught yourself pretending to know something just to save face? We all want to seem wise, capable, and in control, but sometimes we find ourselves acting out of pride instead of genuine understanding. God calls us to something deeper—not the appearance of wisdom, but a life shaped by true wisdom that comes from Him.
Finding the Source of Wisdom
The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This doesn’t mean living in terror, but living in awe and reverence of who God is—the Creator of the universe who still cares intimately for each of us. When we see Him clearly, our hearts begin to take the right posture before Him. We realize that wisdom starts not with knowledge, but with humility and worship.
Living in Reverence and Trust
When we hold God in awe, everything else finds its proper place. We begin to see ourselves with humility, yet also as deeply loved by our Heavenly Father. We recognize our weakness, but also God’s strength and faithfulness. We understand the seriousness of sin, yet we rest in His grace and forgiveness. This balance—reverence for His holiness and confidence in His love—is the foundation of a wise life.
Walking in Wisdom Every Day
Wisdom isn’t something we gain overnight. It grows as we walk closely with the Lord, guided by His Word and His Spirit. Each day becomes a choice: to live thoughtfully, humbly, and prayerfully. True wisdom shows itself in how we love, how we speak, and how we treat others. When our hearts stay aligned with God, we naturally begin to live as wise, not unwise—just as Ephesians 5:15 calls us to do.
