If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. – 1 Corinthians 13:2
Have you ever wished you had the kind of faith that could move mountains or the wisdom to understand everything? Those would be incredible gifts, but God reminds us that even the most amazing miracles and the greatest knowledge mean nothing if they are not rooted in love.
Faith and Knowledge Without Love
Scripture tells us that it would be wonderful to perform miracles, walk on water, or comprehend the deepest mysteries of God. Yet, no matter how extraordinary those experiences might be, they fall short without love. Faith that moves mountains and wisdom that reveals great secrets are empty if they do not flow from a heart filled with God’s love.
The True Mark of a Believer
Jesus said that His followers will be known by their love. It is not our accomplishments, knowledge, or even our ability to share God’s word that proves we belong to Him. Love is the unmistakable evidence that we have been changed by Christ and that His Spirit is alive in us. Love reflects His nature more clearly than anything else we could ever do.
Love as the Greatest Gift
Every moment of our lives, God pours His love into us. It is His love that sets us apart as His children and makes us shine as witnesses of His grace. Without love, all other efforts amount to nothing. But with love, we reveal the very heart of God to the world around us. This is why love is the greatest gift of all.
