When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him? – Psalm 8:3-4
Look up into the night sky, and what do you see?
Astronomers estimate there are more than 100 billion stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way, and over 100 billion galaxies in the universe. The total number of stars and planets is beyond comprehension. In the middle of this vast universe, it is natural to wonder, who am I?
You Are Known by God
You are not lost in the immensity of creation. God calls you by name. He knows the number of hairs on your head and the number of your days. He formed you in the womb and has had plans for your life since the very beginning.
Among the countless stars, planets, and galaxies, God created you to be unique. Across all of history, with billions of people who have lived and died, there has never been another exactly like you. God knows you intimately, loves you deeply, and proved that love by giving His life for you. He also has an amazing future planned for you.
The Greatness of God’s Love
God’s creation is overwhelming and filled with wonders we can never fully grasp. Billions upon billions of galaxies only reveal a glimpse of His greatness. And yet, compared to the height and depth of His love, the vast expanse of space is small.
When you look up at the sky and see the work of God’s hands, remember this truth: He is also looking at you. You are on His mind and in His heart. He cares for you, He thinks of you, and He loves you with an everlasting love.
