Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11:25-26
How can something as simple as believing be so life changing? When Jesus spoke these words, He was standing with Martha in the middle of grief and loss. Rather than offering an explanation, He pointed her to Himself. Faith transforms us because it connects us to Jesus, the living Savior who gives life that death cannot destroy.
What does John 11:25-26 teach us about faith and resurrection?
In this passage, Jesus does not speak only about a future resurrection. He declares that resurrection is found in Him. Life is not merely something He gives at the end of time. It flows from a present relationship with Him. To believe in Jesus is to trust the One who holds authority over both life and death.
This is why faith carries such power. Faith joins us to Christ, who has already overcome the grave. Even when physical death comes, it does not have the final word for those who believe.
Why is believing in Jesus the key to eternal life?
Faith is not about how strong our belief feels, but about who our belief rests upon. People come to faith in many ways. Some through reading Scripture, others through prayer, study, or hearing a message that speaks directly to their hearts. Still others recognize God’s presence through experiences that can only be explained by His hand.
What unites all genuine faith is trust in Jesus as the Son of God who died and rose again to forgive sin and give eternal life.
How does Jesus meet us personally through faith today?
Jesus does not require us to reach a certain level of understanding before we believe. He met fishermen at work, welcomed children, showed patience to doubters, and spoke truth to rulers. He met each person exactly where they were.
Faith is a personal encounter with Christ. He meets us where we are, but He does not leave us unchanged. Through faith in Him, we are made new and given a life that reaches beyond death itself.
Jesus still asks the same question today. Do you believe this?
