I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14

What does Psalm 139:14 teach us about our value? It reminds us that our worth does not come from our achievements, appearance, or the opinions of others. Our value begins with the God who lovingly created us. Every detail of our lives is known to Him, and every part of His workmanship reflects His wisdom and care. When we remember that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, we can walk through life with confidence, gratitude, and humility.

What does Psalm 139:14 mean when it says we are fearfully and wonderfully made?

Psalm 139 celebrates God’s intimate knowledge of His people. Before we ever took our first breath, He knew us completely. Our bodies, minds, personalities, and abilities are not accidents. They are part of His perfect design.

The words “fearfully and wonderfully made” point to the awe-inspiring work of our Creator. Every heartbeat, every breath, and every thought remind us that the Lord’s craftsmanship is beyond human understanding. Like a caring shepherd who knows every sheep in His flock, God knows each of His children personally and watches over them with faithful love.

Knowing God created me is encouraging!

One of the greatest comforts of the Christian faith is knowing that the God who created the universe also knows us completely. He understands our joys, struggles, questions, and fears. Nothing is hidden from His loving gaze.

Even when we feel overlooked or insignificant, God’s Word reminds us that we are deeply loved. He does not value us because of what we accomplish but because we belong to Him. Being fully known and fully loved is a truth that brings lasting peace and hope.

How should this truth shape the way we live?

Knowing that we are created in God’s image changes the way we see ourselves and others. Every person carries the dignity of being fashioned by the Creator. This truth encourages compassion, kindness, and humility as we remember that every good gift comes from Him.

God made us to glorify Him, enjoy fellowship with Him, and reflect His character in our daily lives. As we trust His purpose for us, we can rest in the confidence that His plans are good and that our lives have lasting meaning because they are rooted in Him.

How can we respond to God’s wonderful workmanship?

A grateful heart is the natural response to God’s amazing work. Rather than comparing ourselves with others or questioning His design, we can thank Him for creating us with wisdom and purpose. Each day becomes an opportunity to worship the One whose works are truly wonderful.

May Psalm 139:14 remind you that your life is precious in God’s sight. You were lovingly created, completely known, and faithfully cared for by the One whose wisdom never fails.

Father, thank You for creating me with wisdom, purpose, and love. Help me to walk in humility, trusting Your perfect design for my life. Teach me to value others as people made in Your image and to live each day for Your glory. Amen.
