Power! The name of Jesus

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the power to become children of God. — John 1:12

Have you ever thought about how much power there is in a name? Especially when that name is Jesus. His name holds strength, comfort, and the very gift of salvation. It’s more than a word—it’s a promise of belonging and eternal hope.

The Power in the Name of Jesus

In the name of Jesus there is healing, as we see in Acts 3:6, and authority over evil spirits, as shown in Acts 16:18. The entire universe will one day bow to His name, for it is above every other name (Philippians 2:9-10). But the greatest truth of all is that through His name we receive salvation and the assurance of eternal life (1 John 5:13).

When we call on Jesus, we are not invoking an idea or a memory—we are calling on the living Son of God, whose power has no limit.

The Strength of Small Faith

God knows that we struggle to believe at times. Our faith often feels fragile, small, or uncertain. But the beauty of faith is that its power does not come from its size. Jesus tells us that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. Even the tiniest spark of belief connects us to the boundless power of God.

It’s not how much faith we have, but who our faith is in. The Creator of all things makes up for our weakness with His strength.

Children of God

When we believe in the name of Jesus, we become children of God. That is the greatest gift of all—the power to belong to His family. Whether our faith feels bold or barely visible, we are still His, and that is enough. The power is not in us, but in Him. The name of Jesus changes everything.
