Stop being divisive

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. – 1 Corinthians 1:10

Who is it that has forgiven and saved us? Who is it that gives meaning, purpose, and love to our lives? The answer is simple: the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is the center of our faith, and when we keep our focus on Him, unity naturally follows.

Our Shared Foundation in Christ

The believers in Corinth struggled with division, though we are not told exactly what caused it. What we do know is that pride and vanity often lie at the root of conflict. Each of us wants to be right, and once we believe we are, we want others to see it too. But in Christ, there is no room for superiority. We all once stood equally apart from God, and now, by His grace, we stand equally forgiven and redeemed.

Unity grows when we remember that our faith, our salvation, and our purpose all come from the same source—Jesus Christ. We are equal in our need for mercy, equal in our sinfulness, and equal in our call to humility.

Speaking Truth with Love

There are times when standing for truth and sound doctrine is necessary. But how we stand matters just as much as what we stand for. Before defending your position, ask yourself if you can kneel before the Lord and honestly say your heart is filled with love, compassion, and kindness.

If anger, resentment, or pride rise up within you, it is no longer about truth—it has become about self. When our goal shifts from loving correction to proving a point, division replaces fellowship. Christ calls us to speak truth in love, not in arrogance.

Known by Our Love

Jesus said that the world will know we are His followers by our love for one another. All our doctrine, theology, and traditions, even if perfectly correct, mean nothing without love. True discipleship is not marked by who wins an argument, but by who shows the character of Christ.

Stop being divisive. Instead, let your words and actions reflect the unity that comes from knowing and loving Jesus. He is the One who binds us together in perfect peace.
