But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head. – Psalm 3:3
How would you feel if you were standing before God? Would you be afraid, insignificant, ashamed, or humbled? The truth is, God invites us into His presence not to overwhelm us with fear, but to surround us with His love, grace, and compassion.
God’s Love Calms Our Fears
If fear rises within us, we must remember that we have been forgiven through Jesus Christ. God’s love removes our fear and replaces it with peace. Because the Lord is our protector and our shield, we have nothing to fear from anyone or anything. His presence brings safety and assurance.
We Are Deeply Valued by God
Standing before the Creator of the universe can make us feel small and insignificant. Yet God reminds us of our worth in Him. He knows every detail of our lives, even the number of hairs on our heads. He values us so highly that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our salvation. His great love gives our lives purpose, worth, and beauty. His glory becomes our glory.
Our Shame Is Taken Away
When we imagine standing before God, we might also think of our sins and failures. We know we fall short of His perfection. But through the death and resurrection of Jesus, our shame is taken away. In Christ, we stand as His beloved children, fully forgiven and accepted. The Lord Himself lifts our head.
Humbled by His Love
In the presence of God, we are humbled—not crushed. We are humbled because He values us as His dear children. We are humbled by His constant care and faithful protection. We are humbled by the depth of His love. We do not stand afraid, ashamed, or insignificant. We stand loved, forgiven, and lifted by the Lord.
