Then Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” — Joshua 3:5
Are you ready for the wonders God is preparing to do in your life? Every day, the Lord is at work—healing hearts, providing for needs, restoring brokenness, and drawing His people closer to Himself. His power is not distant or theoretical; it is personal, present, and active. Yet the question remains: are our hearts prepared to notice and receive what He is doing?
What does it mean to experience God’s wonders more closely?
Think of a dear friend who lives far away. You may hear stories about what they’re doing, but you can’t fully share in their life from a distance. However, when you walk beside them every day, you experience their world firsthand. In much the same way, our relationship with God deepens when we draw near to Him.
God’s wonders are not limited by our closeness, but our awareness of them is. When we walk closely with Him—in prayer, obedience, and trust—we begin to see His work in ways we might have otherwise missed. The same God who parted the Jordan River in Joshua’s day is still performing quiet miracles today, inviting us to walk closely enough to witness them.
How does consecration prepare us for God’s work?
To consecrate means to set apart, to dedicate something wholly to God. Joshua called the people to consecrate themselves before crossing the Jordan because God was about to move in a mighty way. That same call reaches us now.
When we choose to consecrate our lives—to put God first, to lay aside distractions, to surrender our plans—we are positioning ourselves to experience His presence and power. It’s not that our dedication earns His favor, but that it opens our hearts to fully receive His grace. A consecrated heart says, “Lord, I am Yours. Do Your work in me.”
How can we live ready for God’s wonders today?
Living ready for God’s wonders begins with daily devotion. It means trusting Him in uncertainty, staying faithful in prayer, and keeping our hearts sensitive to His leading. When we seek Him with open hands, we discover that His power and love are already surrounding us.
God still does wonders among His people. He still heals, restores, and redeems. He still surprises us with His goodness. As we consecrate ourselves—setting our hearts apart for His purposes—we prepare to witness the beautiful, miraculous work He longs to do in and through us.
Let’s live ready. The Lord is about to do amazing things.
